What is EMDR

EMDR is an abbreviation for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing!

I received extensive training for EMDR therapy at the EMDR Institute, which was founded by the original developer of this incredible therapy approach!

My clients, colleagues, & I have been consistently amazed at how much faster we can get to the origin of the belief system, memory, and/or trauma than with traditional talk therapy approaches so I can get my clients freedom faster!

EMDR was originally developed for veterans experiencing PTSD in the 80's. but since then, it has been used successfully to help with many conditions & symptoms such as worry, shame, performance anxiety, OCD, depression, & lots more.

Research (& my experience) has shown that EMDR can eliminate the distressing "material" stored in the mind/body in one to just a few sessions.

We can utilize this approach both in- person & virtually and within a family or couples session!

If you’ve experienced betrayal, loss, anxiety, or other trauma, and you’re tired of feeling stuck or overwhelmed, an EMDR Intensive might be the next right step in your healing.

  •  You’ve already done some work in therapy, but still feel something big hasn’t shifted

  • You’re ready for support right now—not in a few months
  • You’ve experienced betrayal trauma, and you want to go deeper in healing
  • You're emotionally overwhelmed and need dedicated time and space to process
  • You prefer focused, immersive healing rather than long-term weekly work

Whether you’re new to therapy or already working with someone, EMDR intensives can complement your healing journey by giving you space to go further, faster.

Why It Works!

Why It Works!

 Research shows that EMDR intensives:

  • Lead to faster relief from trauma symptoms

  • Help people stay engaged in their healing (fewer dropouts)

  • Reduce emotional overwhelm by working in a focused block of time

  • Save time by cutting out the week-to-week “reset” process

When you're in an intensive, you're not spending time each session rehashing the week or easing into hard topics—you’re already there. This lets your brain and body do the deep work they’ve been needing.

The format is flexible, but your care is structured, compassionate, and trauma-informed. You’ll have space to process, pause, and heal without pressure.

Information on 3 Hour EMDR Intensive Programs- Virtual or In-Person Options

EMDR Intensives are a more flexible model of therapy to provide you with the support you need quickly and effectively.

Intensives are great for anyone busy, for mom's who prefer to get away to do deep healing, professionals who have challenging schedules, or ANYONE who wants to get healing FAST!

EMDR intensives are focused personalized treatment plans that zone in on specific goals.

My goal as an Intensive EMDR Therapist is to help you get relief faster and more efficiently, so that you can get back to living your life instead of spending months or years in therapy.

Perhaps you have been making progress with your primary therapist but you are noticing that the cognitive shifts and the emotions or body sensations still seem stuck. This can be frustrating and confusing.

EMDR Intensives can help to un-stick those feelings that don’t make cognitive sense.

We can work together in collaboration with your primary therapist to pinpoint what we need to focus on with EMDR to remove those roadblocks and keep your progress flowing.

Perhaps your schedule does not allow for weekly therapy appointments, or you just don’t have space for spending months of time in therapy to address your treatment goals.

EMDR Intensives can bring relief quickly when you need it most.

Feel better faster, sounds great, right?

So, how does it work?

EMDR Intensives are extended sessions (3 hours each session).

This allows us sufficient time to dive deep into the issues and get a lot of work done in one session before sending you on your way. When we can do this for two, three or four sessions, that's MONTHS of traditional 1-hour weekly therapy sessions progress within just a few days time.

EMDR Intensive Programs are specialized to meet your needs.

Typically an EMDR intensive program consists of 2–4 intensive (3 hour) sessions.

What is included in an EMDR Intensive Program?

90 minute intake appointment (virtual or in person)

3-hour EMDR intensive appointment 2-4x (in person or virtual)

30 minute follow up appointment (virtual)

What can we address during an EMDR Intensive programs?

During 2-3 days of EMDR intensive sessions we can often address:

- Very specific traumatic events

- Recent traumatic events (within the past 6 months)

- Other significant events that currently cause you distress.

- Accelerated resourcing and coping skills development

During 4 days of EMDR Intensive sessions we can often address:

- More extensive or persistent traumatic events

- Complex trauma

- Negative cognitions/beliefs
